Las Ramblas

Who knew a series of dried-up river beds could be so fantastic? All kinds of things were for sale, from flowers to Applebee's paella to baby rabbits. They also had super creepy street performers who would be still like statues and then jump out and holler boo at you. One guy was painted gold and I guess was supposed to be a mechanical cowboy, except he had a squeak like a squeak toy. British humor I get; Euro humor, not so much.

Bek thought it would be great for me to bring back one as a souvenir. I just took a picture instead.
Flower stalls
Weirdo street performer. People actually paid to have their picture made with them. I steered clear of that insanity!

You can buy herbs here. They made the air fragrant.

The best part was la boqueria, the famous food market. I love to take pictures of food, and I was going crazy in there! Our other favorite place to eat was Pinotxo Bar (within the boqueria) for tapas including pulpo—octopus! The fried peppers were delicious too, kinda like fried okra without the breading.

Yep--sheep heads and trotters and tripe.

All manner of fish and shellfish!

Mountains of glorious fruits

See how happy I am to arrive at a long-desired destination?
